I guess my title says it all: I’m a newbie teacher who will be teaching in a very strange land. Along the course of my education, I have been told numerous times that I don’t quite fit the mold of a typical teacher. Some would call me strange. So I guess I will fit in nicely with my new school.
In August, I will be a first year Language Arts teacher in a nearby middle school. I have had a year and a half’s worth of experience teaching squirmy middle schoolers, but they are still aliens to me. Hormones and new-found attitudes and a boatload of energy all crammed together inside a 12 year old’s body. You know what I’m talking about.
Nevertheless, I am giddy with excitement at the knowledge that I will finally be a real teacher in a matter of a few months! I am spending the remainder of my free life researching and planning and doing more research. I want to be a prepared new teacher. Even if I am strange.

Nothing prepares like experience. Which grade level are you teaching?

Vegas Art Guy –
After 5 years of talking about teaching in school, I am so ready to actually experience it firsthand! I will be teaching 7th grade this year.
